Happy Retirement

Here's a little postcard for Jackie who is retiring from nursing on Tuesday 26 January to start a life of quilting, quilting and more quilting! It measures 6" by 4".

Tom loves London

Tom (#1 Son)'s Grandma Betty lives in a care home. I promised to let her have some photos of Tom that I had taken on a recent trip to London (this was in November 2009). I decided to make her a mini book. Well actually I thought I'd better make one for his other Granny too and I just had to have one for myself. So I am busy making THREE identical mini books. I have just finished the first one which is for me. All the others are ready with double sided tape on the back of the photos and embellishments all ready to go.

I've just taken the photos and blanked out any identifiable information - but it still gives you the idea of the mini book, which is 5 inch square with stickers and ribbons from my stash!

Up to date

Well here are my last three days of tiny squares.

Monday I was mostly at work (apart from the four hours I spent on a bus!).

Tuesday at knitting club I carried on with the bunting I had started knitting before the Clangers interrupted.

Wednesday I had two cups of coffee in Caffe Nero then another one in Friendly Cafe where I met Alison.

I'm quite impressed with this camera that I borrowed because mine broke (oh whoops I used it in the rain AGAIN). It's only 6 megapixels, but it does give some good close ups.....

365 Challenge

I am doing a 365 challenge which means making a 1-1/2 inch square each day of the year with something on it that applies to that day - I got the idea from (watch and see if I can make a link to the right blog - never done this before!!) here is the link to the site with all instructions and stuff about the challenge.

As you can see I am a couple of days behind - but I have plans for those days - just haven't got around to making my squares - that's a job for this evening! I'm finding the days are a bit 'samey' at the moment - work - snow - work - snow - work - snow. I go out in the dark and come home in the dark and it takes about 3-1/2 to 4 hours a day to get to work on the bus as opposed to 20 minutes to half an hour each way in the car (which is far too snowed in to be going anywhere for a while!). It was with great excitement that I went to the dentist last Friday and had something else to put on my square!

Little projects for December 2009

Here are some of the things we got up to in December. It was Alun's daughter's idea to have a Clanger Nativity - but as Alun had taken a year to knit his first clanger and had only started his second one in November I didn't think he was going to have the required numbers. So I started knitting clangers! Here are my finished ones including a 'Baby Jesus Clanger' which I had to design myself as the patterns we found were only for the other sizes.

Alun and I dressed them at Knitting club.....

And here they all are at Alun's ready for the festive season.... Spot Baby Clanger eating the blue string soup!

One of the children I used to childmind came for a 'craft day' and we made quilts -
this is her's........ spot the star fish on top!! The tree is about A4 size.

And I finished mine a bit later on..... My tree is about A5.

and here's a closeup...

Calendar

I am doing a calendar challenge which I saw on another blog - you make a 1-1/2 inch square for each day of the year and at the end of the month put them on your blog for all to see. Tomorrow I shall find out how to link up to the other blog so you know what I mean. But for today I am going to try and upload the other ATC photo. I'm clicking the 'add image' thingy on here and nothing is actually happening - well I'm off now and will try again tomorrow..... It's on it's side again - will try do something about it tomorrow!!

Oh YES!!! I have successfully worked out how to turn my photos round and find them again and publish them on here. It was worth having a day of work to do it!! Well I didn't really want a day off work but I got into Bradford and ALL the buses were suspended, so I wasn't going anywhere. Where I did go was Caffe Nero, who were doing a roaring trade in coffee, so I was on my second soya latte when my boss rang and told me to go home - so I did at 10.30 when the buses started running again! ATC for the new year

Last year my mum made me an ATC for each month... well I finished my City and Guilds course in November and now have all the time in the world, so I am going to try and make her one each month. Here is my first one... No I have no idea how to turn the photos round.... I have F-spot photo editor... not really sure how to use it.... HELP!!!

Thanks Tom - it doesn't seem to be that easy! I think they are png files not jpg, but I sorted it a bit by changing it with Firefox web browser. Next time - I'll just put them on my laptop - turn them round and put them on here. And now it doesn't seem to let me add another photo.
