Mystery Object Revealed.....

Yes it's a kitchen unit..... I found the rack with knobs on lying around upstairs and it JUST fitted on the end to hang the tea towels, etc....
And here is a retro photo from 20 May (now why does that date stick in my mind??) 2007 when Tom made a get well card for his Japanese teacher.  How FAB is that?

October 20 2010

Well today would have been my baby brother David's 56th birthday.... it's the third without him!  I met my mum and dad at a local (ish) garden centre for a coffee to remember the day.

Two years ago today I planted some acorns from David's oak tree and here they are alive and well and on their way to greater things in a pot on the front porch......

Now - you are probably all wondering what has happened to the N'debele beading on the beading mat!!  Well maybe you haven't!   Well it has also gone on to greater things and is now a FINISHED bracelet......

The crochet blanket is also coming along - incidentally it takes 15 minutes to do a row.  It will take quite a while before it is double bed size!!

What's on the beading mat today?

Monday evening's beading class was quite difficult - but I think I got it! It is called N'debele and is an African weave....

And here is it - after a couple of hours more work...

I added another 30 black beads and will measure it soon and see which fastener I am going to use.

Crochet, Dice and a mystery object

I bought 11 balls of yarn from a nice little shop in Cavendish Court.... and crocheted a little strip and numbered them all from 2 to 12.  And then threw the two dice.... and this is what I have done so far.... two rows of each colour then throw the dice again..... until it fits a double bed (!) There's quite a way to go still.

And what on earth is this.....
... you'll have to wait and see - I have sanded it down and will be painting it with sealer in the not too distant future - I think I shall give it one coat before I put it together then one or even two more once it is built.  I can't leave it like this for too long because it is taking up half of the kitchen floor.

Beads, Buns and Knitting Club

Monday night was beading class and this is the lovely necklace I made..... the teacher was very impressed with the clasp as she had done her one differently - I will photo the clasp one day when I take it off - cos I just LOVE it!!

I made some cupcakes this evening to take to work to celebrate (???)  having been there for two years.
Knitting Club was busier than usual - with FOUR of us!  Three knitters and an observer!  Marginally less exciting than watching cricket.  I'd found these squares that I had started ages ago and took them along.....
Then I tried to follow the pattern..... and this was all I produced after and hour and a half......
And here is one I made earlier - I had done a complete one several years ago and for some reason had lots of trouble with the pattern this evening!  Maybe it was because we were being watched!!!!

10.10.10

Well I had to blog today!!  If only just to write the date!! Now let me see what I can find to show you.  Yesterday I received a lovely tag from the Craft Stamper Challenge.  I shall be sending a little thank you ATC to the lady who made it.

And here is the one that my mum received.

They are both so cute!! This little sheep has fluffy bits on it!

recent creations

Dot has been teaching me jewellery making and I recently made this bracelet.  It uses lots and lots of jump rings, which need to be opened and have beads threaded on them, then closed again and added with other jump rings.  Not my favourite technique.

I made this scrapbook page to celebrate Jerri and Tom's recent marriage - here they are cutting the cake at Tom's Grandparents house.  Jerri, very kindly, brought me some fabulous scrapbook papers from America and I have used these.  I still have some words to put on it - I seem to have forgotten them!!!

The current Craft Stamper Challenge is a tag.  We had a colour choice of brown red and orange.  This is the one I did.....

And this is the one my Mum made.....
