DIY on a Damp Sunday Afternoon

Don't think they call DIY (Do It Yourself) the same in US.  But that's what I have been doing this afternoon.  I was hoping to sew, but the cat stole my chair!!

Tink sleeping on my sewing chair - she can't be moved!!!!
These chairs were the first things I bought for my new flat in London in 1977.  They have been in the loft for a couple of years.
They were covered in flowery plastic when I was childminding...
Then in blue and white checks.....
With a little bit of chocolate help (it is Easter Sunday and that's what you do!)....
... and a staple gun I covered them in blue with white spots.
How cool are these?  For 35 year old chairs, they look pretty good I think - actually the white paint needs a bit of a re-coat.
Tink helped me open the parcel....
Fluffy action shot....

Thanks Uncle T and Auntie J for my lovely mousey
Winter Wonderland Wednesday!  Where's the back garden gone?

... and the front?
Cardmaking in progress

Stamped background
Inside - its supposed to look like a little wardrobe...
And the front I used my new cutting die for the bobbin and dress form.  Happy Birthday Miv !!

The bathroom floor actually gets finished....

A little pattern to go round the toilet....

phew - it fits!

And here it is - all completed - Mum won't get cold feet now!

As you can see - next doors cat Polly is half starved, so she came to help herself to Tink's food

Hey - I'm a SUPER MUM!  I decided to donate £1 to the Sainsburys tombola and for that you got 5 tickets and I won a little gift - told the man selling the tickets I could pretend it was from my son!  He laughed!!

Thank you to the lady at quilting group who said she would make the quilted bag from crochet first - I did this on the bus going to and from London....

Close up of the bag almost crocheted together

And here is the bag finished (apart from sewing in the millions of tails that seemed to be missed when I crocheted it together).

Close up of the handles - think it may need some fabric to line it too.  But that is a job for another day.

On the bathroom floor.....

..... last weekend - a little job in my mum's bathroom, involving carpet tiles and a pair of scissors......

50 years of dressmaking skills have gone into the laying of these carpet tiles
Yeah!  nearly done

Only a few more tiles left to put down.  But that's a job for another weekend - they bought 30 of them and I think I'm only going to need about 14!  Unless of course I feel the urge to start on another room!
I think you have to be over 80 to know what carpet tiles are and even older to actually want them!!

Happy Birthday Tom........

...... hope you are having a good day!

These cartoon cards seem to be becoming a bit of a theme for me this year!
Tom's 86 year old Grandma made this card for him - how cool is that!

Valentines Day is always late in America!!

.... well the parcels I send seem to arrive when they feel like....

Happy (belated) Valentines Day
Anglo/American gift!  On the left we have Thornton Viaduct and on the right is a window designed 100 years ago in 1912 by Frank Lloyd Wright - photographed at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
Cat going wild in the snow we had a couple of weeks ago!

Monday beading club

Bracelet finished and fastening on.
We started this lovely heart necklace this evening - I was inspired by the choice of colours that the others in the class chose (one was red and silver, another black and gold, another turquoise and pink and another amethyst and pale pink)
How cute is this little leafy necklace?

And here is a close up - it is made from seed beads and delicas - I also used pearls at the top.  The colours look totally different on here - I thought the pearls matched the aqua delicas on the leaf veins.

Tonight I let the cat out of the bag......

On Friday evening this is how long the bracelet was......
Time to let....
... the cat out of the bag.....
It's FINISHED!!  Apart from the fastening.  If we aren't snowed in, I am going to get a magnetic slider with 4 rings on Sunday.
