RIP Dave Adams
Today would have been my brother's 54th Birthday, however he died unexpectedly on 9 April 2008 (30 years to the day after his Grandmother). He'll be riding his big BMW in the sky now. I recorded a song this morning that I had written to remember his life and am going to plant some acorns from the oak tree in his garden. We won't forget you Dave!!
For my Mum's 83rd birthday this year I took her to Gorilla Crafts evening where we made perpetual calendars. I worked out that our family members all had birthdays on different months and printed out photos for my mum and me to stick on our calendars.

New Year Necessity
Here's a little calendar I just had to make for myself. I had the idea to make little calendars with the childminded kids with a photo of them for their parents; no one wanted to do one last week, so I made one for myself with a photo of 'little boy'. He opened his Kwanzaa present from me and said ''Bubblewrap - just what I always wanted''. It has pride of place on my kitchen cabinet.

Long Cardigan
I finished knitting this cardigan yesterday. Why didn't I upload a photo yesterday - cos there was no one to take one. A friend obliged today (thanks Alison) and here is the cardi..... she suggested lining it with fabric... now, there's an idea. It's lovely and warm and I think I might knit another one - especially as there are six balls of yarn left over!!! I might alter the pattern next time and do buttons down the front, it may stop the front bands from curling.

Crazy Log Cabin Bag
Well here is my latest creation - and no, it hasn't taken three months to make. I'm just not a very frequent blogger!!
I made this bag for a friend. I printed photos of her cats (which I acquired by devious means) onto cotton and then used co-ordinating cotton fabric in a random log cabin design. The lining was also used for the handles, top binding and for some of the patchwork. It was made entirely of cotton fabric and machine sewn.

Rail Fence Mini Quilt
This is a quilt I made today for my City and Guilds sample book. It measures 4-1/2 inches square. I made a normal sized sample too, but decided to make as many samples in miniature as possible. The course seems very exciting - lots of sewing!!!! After the first weekend I have done a strip pieced sample, this rail fence one and 'silk' painting and have some trapunto to do next. The 'silk' painting was supposed to be done as trapunto, but I want to use cotton fabric to do the trapunto and keep the painting as a sample. We are doing the module on LINE at the moment. Which I don't fully understand the theory behind it - but I am sure it will all become clear at some point.
