This is a quilt I made today for my City and Guilds sample book. It measures 4-1/2 inches square. I made a normal sized sample too, but decided to make as many samples in miniature as possible. The course seems very exciting - lots of sewing!!!! After the first weekend I have done a strip pieced sample, this rail fence one and 'silk' painting and have some trapunto to do next. The 'silk' painting was supposed to be done as trapunto, but I want to use cotton fabric to do the trapunto and keep the painting as a sample. We are doing the module on LINE at the moment. Which I don't fully understand the theory behind it - but I am sure it will all become clear at some point.

fabric postcards - wild about flowers
This is a photograph of a fabric postcard I made a couple of weeks ago. It was made using wild flowers printed on fabric then pieced with narrow strips of commercially printed fabric. The top is bonded to the pelmet stiffener and then onto fabric for the backing. I used a fabric pen to mark the back to look like a postcard. It measures 6 inch x 4 inch.

S is for......
This quilt is 24 inches square. It was made for the Quilters' Guild AGM Challenge in March 2007. I have called it Spot Sixty Six, because there are 66 things beginning with S on the quilt - can you spot them all? (Actually there are a few more than that but 66 seemed a nicer number!!). It is just strips sewn stitch and flip fashion onto a cotton wadding. I got it out today to saw a piece of wood for the hanging rod.

Jaswyn
Here is a little wallhanging I made for my brother and sister in law. It is a photo of their home printed on fabric with commercial fabric printed with flowers and leaves. The quilting is done with cotton thread and is free machined. The wadding is cotton. The quilt measures 12 inches square.
This second photo shows a close up of the stitching. I followed the line of some of the leaves and flowers on the patterned fabric. It's all packed up to post now - I'll let you know what they say about it in a later blog. Well maybe they should add a message on here.

Cleaner Greener Thornton
I made these three postcards for the Cleaner Greener Thornton Art Trail. More photographs printed on fabric. There was a bit of a problem with the fabric as I needed more - it is a totally different weight and quality. I emailed the company who sent me the same as I'd ordered before. The postcards are again 6 inch x 4 inch, but this time I put them in a frame which I changed into a box frame by removing the metal pegs and inserting a strip of foam core board. The are now hanging in the gallery at South Square Centre. The whole exhibition looks super.
At the weekend I attended the Great Northern Quilt Show in Harrogate. A really enjoyable show. Next year I intend to enter some quilts.
